Crete you know I've always been a defender of Israel. Not the case anymore. The lengths they will go to involve the west in their vision of that region is worrisome.
I've come to believe that Israel realized during the first Gulf war that the west, given a good enough reason, will fight their wars for them in an effort to keep the region stabilized.
I think the Obama administration has been struggling to balance sanctions with Israel's one minded attempt to go to war with every Muslim country in the world.
It's got to where I see plots in every flashpoint incident.

I dont think they "sail" arms anymore, more like a container ship these days.
However, if you can get Turkey to fight a war for you......

I briefly read that is was a mistake, not sure how that works, but what advantage would they have in doing this?

Syria is apologizing because they have no clue as to how it happened. The last thing Syria would want is to provoke Turkey. Syria didn't do this. Israel has a history of using weapons that can be traced back to other countries. They've been caught red handed on a couple of occasions. Israel was also the main source that claimed Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.
Israel wants to be a super power. The only way for that to happen is by causing the collapse of every major government in the region.

Hmm...
'Libya is facing a political vacuum almost a year after the killing of Moammar Qadhafi. It is a time of instability and rising security threats -- with emboldened Islamist extremist groups in the east, recurring tribal and ethnic clashes in the south and hundreds of armed militias that continue to operate across the country with no government control.'
How does that saying go? 'Better the devil you know'.
Watch Egypt. The Suez in particular.

There are two camps of spin regarding Libya. The right considers Libya a country of terrorists who hate America. The left contends the people of Libya love America for it's part in their revolution.
Here's what we know.
Quote :
Libya has the 10th-largest proven oil reserves of any country in the world and the 17th-highest petroleum production.
Add in the fact that some believe Libya is sitting on even more unknown oil and you see why the left and the right's opinion of Libya both lead to an increasing American presence. One wants to shake Libya's hand while placing the dagger in their back and the other just wants to run up on them and slit their throats.

Well that adds a new wrinkle. The water bottling industry is expected to be as big as the oil industry in the near future. One company has already impacted parts of the great lakes. There aren't many sources for them to tap in the US without permanent damage to surrounding areas.

God tells me its cheap to pipe oil.

Iraq’s oil output will more than double from 2.6 million to 6 million barrels a day (b/d) by the end of the decade. This is 45pc of world oil supply growth over these years.
It will reach 8 million b/d by 2035. By then, Iraq will have overtaken Russia to become the world’s second biggest oil exporter – supplying China with 2 million b/d in a modern marine revival of the silk trade – and earning $200 billion a year in revenues.
